75,000 families gets jobs under REGA

Agartala, Mar 20: In all 75,000 families in Tripura's Dhalai district have received job card under the centrally sponsored Rural Employment Gauranted (REGA) Scheme during last fiscal and the same scheme would be introduced in West and South districts respectively from April one this year.

About 60,000 poor families had applied for getting job under the scheme in the Dhalai district and got 85 to 90 days job as per the REGA, official sources said and added that 76,000 such families could get job under the scheme.

Once REGA was introduced in the newly announced West and South District, about 4 lakh 21 thousand rural families would get job for 100 days, sources said.
