3 militants killed, army Captain injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 20: Three militants were killed and an army officer was injured in a fierce encounter in north Kashmir, a Defence Ministry spokesman said today.

He said troops of 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Chuntimarg Loalab in the frontier district of Kupwara late last night.

He said when the area was being sealed militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the gun battle three militants were killed.

An army captain was also seriously injured in the encounter, he added.
