22 kg heroin seized from Northwest Delhi, three arrested
New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Delhi Police have cracked a big racket relating to smuggling of narcotics in the country with the seizure of a huge quantity of heroin, worth Rs 22 crore in the international market, and arrest of three Amritsar-based interstate Heroin traffickers.
At the same time, the Delhi police also busted a cocaine module operating from Mumbai as also a heroin module operating from UP with the arrest of four people and seizure of 13 gm of cocaine and 1.5 kg of brown sugar from them.
Twenty-two kilogram of heroin was seized from Surjeet Singh, Manjeet Singh and Gurusewak Singh, all of them hailing from Punjab, from near Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tilla in North-west Delhi on March 15 when they were waiting to deliver the contraband to somebody.
'Acting on a tip-off that the trio would be coming to the national capital with a huge amount of contraband, a trap was laid and all the three were arrested with a bag containing 22 kg of the narcotics substance, police said.
The seized contraband, found to be of Afghani origin, was valued at Rs 22 crores in the International market, police said.
Interrogation of the three revealed that the trio had come from Punjab in a car to deliver the contraband in Delhi.
'On sustained interrogation, it was revealed that they used to smuggle narcotics with the help of one Jagjeet Singh, based in Amritsar,' he added.
Police are on a lookout for Jageet Singh.
The Police said the interrogation of Surjeet, involved in smuggling of the narcotics from Pakistan via Amritsar, has provided significant leads regarding the source of supply and the recipients in Delhi and outside. These leads are being developed and are likely to lead to more arrests.
In another case, police arrested one Mohammed Aslam in Ashok Vihar area in East Delhi with 13 grams of cocaine last week.
In the third case, police seized 1.5 kg of brown sugar from two people, hailing from Uttar Pradesh.
