180-member Commonwealth Study Group visits India

Kolkata, Mar 20 (UNI) Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) will host the prestigious Commonwealth Study Conference in June this year along with Singapore and Malaysia to bring together aspiring young leaders from 30 Commonwealth countries under one platform.

Launched in 1956 by the Duke of Edinburg, the Conference is aimed at bringing together an interesting and diverse cross-section of young leaders from different walks of life - industry and trade unions for participating, sharing and learning various programmes.

Stating that the Conference delegates would come from different countries and backgrounds yet they shared one thing in common. They were individuals with high potentials who were expected to achieve leading positions in their respective countries, said CII Foreign Relations Committee(Eastern Region) Chairman Sanjay Budhia here today.

Meanwhile, as a prelude to the Conference 180 University students from 30 Commonwealth study groups arrived here today to visit 18 states and Union territories in India, besides interacting on a variety of subjects including infrastructure, enviornment, women empowerment, agriculture, tribal welfare, information technology, tourism, education and health.

During the visit the students would also participate in various interactive sessions with leading global business institutions, with senior government representatives, with educational institutions and healthcare facilities in India giving a wide perspective of the changing and growing times in India.

The study tour group will also explore the cultural side of the country in Eastern India, Mr Budhia said.
