Uttarakhand CM meets Prime Minister

New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) New Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj Gen (retd) Bhuwan Chand Khanduri today called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here.

State Government sources described the meeting as a courtesy call.

They said Maj Gen Khanduri described his meeting with the PM as very fruitful. He said Dr Singh had assured that all special packages to the State would be sent and the State's developmental activities would not be hampered.

Maj Gen Khanduri is expected to meet Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan and Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat later in the day. He is also expected to call on Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

The Chief Minister will call on President A P J Abdul Kalam, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Defence Minister A K Anthony tomorrow, the sources added.
