Usage of fake stamps found in MP HC
Gwalior, MP, Mar 19 (UNI) Usage of fake judicial stamps came to light today when alert registrar office employees of the Madhya Pradesh High Court's Gwalior Bench smelt rat on seeing stamp papers of Rs 1,000 deposited in a petition.
On seeing the stamp papers, registrar office employees called district treasury officer, who found during investigation that the stamp papers was sold by stamp vendor Vinod Singh Yadav, who was not issued stamp papers with this serial number.
On the basis of suspicion, the registrar office got investigated other documents sold through Vinod.
The treasury officials found that the serial numbers of all the stamp papers had been issued in the name of some other vendors during the past few years.
High Court Registrar R P Verma informed Collector Rakesh Srivastava about the matter.
Subsequently, police detained Vinod. Sources said Vinod used to purchase stamps from two people.
On this basis, police had called three other people for questioning.
The Collector said the matter was being investigated.
Treasury officials were investigating the stamp papers.
