Rabong Discovered to commence from April 8
Gangtok, Mar 19 (UNI) Sikkim's famous tourism festival 'Rabong Discovered', will start from April eight.
Officially, the tourist season in the state starts from April with 'Rabong Discovered'.
This five-day festival would be organised at Rabongla in south Sikkim by Rabongla Tourism Development Committee, tourism department sources said.
The festival would offer the visitors a wide range of North Eastern handicrafts, rich culture, fashion and history of the state.
Kathmandu Handicrafts Association of Nepal would also showcase their products with traditional 'Newari' cuisine during the festival.The participants would be given demonstrations on the art of making handicrafts, the organisers said.
'' Such exposure will encourage people in handicrafts and handloom sector,'' MLA D D Bhutia, one of the organisers said adding that a flower exhibition cum sale would be organised to encourage local floriculturists, he added.
Besides, 'Swar Sikkim', a singing talent hunt, would held on the first day of the festival along with live performances by folk singers from Nepal and a fashion show.
