Punjab govt announces Rs 5000 per acre for crop damage
Chandigarh, Mar 19 (UNI) The Punjab government has decided to give Rs 5000 per acre as compensation to those those whose crops or properties, including houses had been damaged due to the recent hail storm and unseasonal rains.
This compensation would be over and above the prevalent norms of compensation prescribed by the revenue department, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said while addressing a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and other senior officials here today.
He said that the revised compensation would also cover the loss caused to the commercial crops like potatoes.
As per the preliminary assessment reports, the total damage caused to the rabi crop was to an extent of 1,56,000 acres.
