Monica case: Witnesses' statement recorded
Bhopal, Mar 19 (UNI) A local court today recorded statements of two witnesses in a fake passports case in which underworld gangster Abu Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi are accused.
Assistant Inspector (Emigration), New Delhi, A K Mishra told the Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravindra Singh's court that Monica had visited New Delhi in 2001.
Another witness, Deputy Superintendent of Police (CID) J P Pali, told the court that he had submitted a 'challan' after verifying the passport. His statement was not yet complete.
During the five-hour long hearing, Public Prosecutor Ramesh Motwani and defence counsel P C Bedi cross-examined the witnesses.
The court issued notice to five witnesses of which statements of three witnesses were not recorded because of lack of time.
The next hearing has been fixed on March 28. The statements of Superintendent of Police (CBI) Rupin Sharma and one Dilip Mutaklik will be recorded.
