Medasani Mohan completes 'Pancha Sahasravadhanam'

Hyderabad, Mar 19: For the first time in the history of Avadhanams, Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) Annamacharya Project Director Medasani Mohan has successfully completed 'Pancha Sahasravadhanam' by reciting 5,000 poems.

While 'Avadhanam' was a unique literary form of Telugu language, renowned Avadhani Mr Mohan has embarked on the first of its kind 'Pancha Sahasravadhanam' on February 18 and completed it yesterday by reciting 5,000 poems during the month-long event.

He floored lovers of literature through his 5,000 poems recited extempore in response to a variety of literary questions posed by scholars and literatures.

Talking to newspersons here, Rasamayi, which has organised the event, President M K Ramu said about 1,000 noted Telugu literatures and scholars participated in the programme, who posed questions to him during the Avadhanam. It was rare a feet performed by the well noted Avadhanies in the state.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would congratulate Mr Mohan with 'unprecedented Pancha Sahasravadhanam' award here tomorrow.
