Lok Sabha adjourned over the Nandigram issue

New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 1200 hrs today over the Nandigram issue as an adamant Opposition trooped into the well of the House seeking the suspension of the Question Hour and debate over the matter.

As soon as the House assembled to take up the Question Hour, members of the Opposition NDA were up on their feet and disrupted the proceedings. Later, they trooped into the well of the House, shouting slogans equating the killings at Nandigram with Jallianwalah Bagh, forcing Deputy Speaker Charnjit Singh Atwal, who was in the Chair, to adjourn the House till 1200 hrs.

They insisted that the House should first take up discussion over Nandigram but the Chair, insisted that since law and order was a state matter, it cannot be taken up for discussion in the House.

He said he has not recieved any adjournment motion over the issue either.

The slogan shouting members were countered by CPI(M) and Congress members.
