Jaipur: Life hit in Begu following bandh call

Jaipur, Mar 19: Normal life was hit today in Begu town of Chittorgarh district due to a bandh call following communal violence during the traditional 'Gair' procession.

The situation is tense but under control, police said.

Shops and business establishments in the town are closed.

Incidents of stone pelting and arson broke out between members of two communities during the Gair procession on Rang Teres day on Saturday.

About half a dozen shops owned by a particular community were gutted in arson and violence following the stoning of the procession. Senior police officials are present in the area.

The district administration had clamped prohibitory orders and taken into custody 63 people from both the communites in connection with the violence.
