Kerala to take steps to get parole for Madani: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 19 (UNI) The Kerala government would take all possible steps to get parole for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasser Madani, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told the Assembly today.

After the government took up the issue of Madani's deteriorating health condition with the Tamil Nadu government, the latter provided Ayurvedic treatment to him in the jail, he said while replying to a submission by K T Jaleel (CPM-IND).

Mr Achuthanandan added the Assembly had even passed a resolution last year seeking a humanitarian approach in Madhani's case. He had spent nine years in a Coimbatore Central jail as an undertrial in connection with the Coimbatore blasts.

The Tamil Nadu government had promised to look into the matter of getting him parole after examining legal issues. The state would do everything in its capacity he added.
