J'khand Assy flays vandalism on Dhoni's house
Ranchi, Mar 19 (UNI) The Jharkhand Assembly today expressed concern over the act of vandalism at cricket star Mahindra Singh Dhoni's under-cosntruction house in the capital yesterday by miscreants.
Congress leader Saurabh Narayan Singh raised the issue saying those who were instrumental in destroying the boundary of the house should be booked.
Mr Singh said such acts brought bad name to the state and added that the matter should be seriously looked into.
Opposition BJP chief whip C P Singh also echoed the same concern and stressed the need for initiating strict action.
Finally, the Speaker Alamgir Alam assured the members that the government has already taken note of the incident.
Enraged over Dhoni's poor performance in the first match in World Cup yesterday, cricket fanatics vandalisd his house and damaged its boundry wall in New Delhi. About 50 youths assembled near the construction site and shouted slogans against the cricketer and burnt his effigies.
Meanwhile, police sources said no complaint was lodged in this regard.
Security had been provided to Dhoni's parents following the incident.
The piece of land was alloted to Dhoni by the erstwhile NDA government and the Ranchi Regional Development had recently passed the map for the proposed house to be constructed on that plot.
