Idol theft accused on police remand

Patna, Mar 19 (UNI) A special court here today granted two days of police remand to CBI for interrogation of Umesh Sao, an accused in the case of theft of Idols from Patna museum .

During the day, the accused Sao was produced before the special CBI judicial magistrate after his arrest from Asha Nagar under Shohsarai police station of Nalanda district yesterday.

The special court after taking the accused in judicial custody passed an order to hand over him to CBI for interrogation for two days.

It was to be noted that 18 idols of high antique value were stolen from Patna museum in September last year.

Out of 18, CBI recovered 17 idols from Kolkata and Nalanda but one idol namely Manjushri was yet to be traced.

Three persons were already lodged in jail in the case.
