HRA seeks report under Right to Information Act

Imphal, Mar 19 (UNI) The Human Rights Alert(HRA), under the Right to Information Act, 2005, has submitted an application to State Information Officer Th Chittaranjan seeking total number of inquiries instituted under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952 by the State Government between 1980 - 2006.

The HRA programme executive Wahengbam Joykumar also sought to know the total number of Inquiry reports submitted to the state and details of action taken thereof.

The HRA said copies of the inquiry reports, considered by the state, along with the Memorandum of Action taken were also demanded.

The State Information Officer has refused the complainant access to any information sought so far, said HRA.

Mr Joykumar had filed a complaint against Mr Chittaranjan on March 13 and accordingly the State Information Commissioner RK Angousana registered a case in this regard on March 15, the HRA informed. The State Information Commissioner has also asked Mr Chittaranjan to furnish objection if any on March 26.
