Heaviest Mizo child dies
Aizawl, March 19 (UNI) A ten-year-old girl, weighing 105 kg, believed to be the heaviest Mizo child died from unknown ailments here yesterday.
According to medical reports, C Lalmalsawmi was born a normal child weighing 3 kgs. However, within a year, she gained 15 kg due to her phenomenal growth rate.
''Since, her mental growth was very slow, she rarely played with girls her age, rather with children who were younger than her,'' said her parents adding that she started attending school as late as six years.
''She was brought under medical attention in 2004 and with the doctors' advise we went to AIIMS. However, doctors assured us that there was nothing wrong although her mental growth did not match her physical growth,'' stated Lalmalsawmi's father Thanchungnunga.
Her health started deteriorating since January-end following a cold and swelling in various parts of her body. She was reported to be suffering from pneumonia and kidney dysfunction only a fortnight ago, Mr Thanchungnunga added.
