First NPP to come up in Morocco
Moscow, Mar 19 (UNI) Russia's nuclear equipment export monopoly Atomstroiexport today said it was planning to build a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Morocco.
A delegation from Atomstroiexport will arrive Morocco this week, on a working visit to discuss the prospects of developing the nuclear power industry in the North African country, the company's press service told RIA Novosti today.
During the visit, the representatives are expected to visit the Sidi Boulbra site, where NPP is expected to be constructed.
The company's managers and experts are in talks with Morocco's National Electricity Office on preparing a feasibility report for the project.
Atomstroiexport has also supplied relevant Moroccan organisations with information on Russian NPP technologies, the press service said.
Atomstroiexport is currently building five nuclear reactor blocks for NPPs in China, India and Iran.
In October, 2006 the company won a tender to build a NPP in Belene, Bulgaria.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov during his visit to Namibia, said last Saturday that Russia was ready to build Nuclear Power Plants of different kinds in Namibia.
Mr Fradkov did not specify which Russian companies would work in the sector, saying that the list of such companies was not limited and Namibian leaders confirmed that there would be room for many.
