Fake stamps found in MP High Court

Gwalior, MP, Mar 19 (UNI) The registrar office employees of Madhya Pradesh High Court's Gwalior Bench today recovered a fake stamp paper of Rs 1,000 denomination deposited in a petition.

On seeing the stamp papers, the employees called district treasury officer, who during investigation found that the stamp papers was sold by stamp vendor Vinod Singh Yadav, who was not issued stamp papers with this serial number.

On the basis of suspicion, the registrar office got investigated other documents sold through Vinod.

The treasury officials found that the serial numbers of all the stamp papers had been issued in the name of some other vendors during the past few years.

High Court Registrar R P Verma informed Collector Rakesh Srivastava about the matter.

Subsequently, police detained Vinod. Sources said Vinod used to purchase stamps from two people.

On this basis, police called three other people for questioning.

The Collector said the matter was being investigated.

Treasury officials were investigating the stamp papers.
