Ex-Rly clerk gets 3-years -RI

New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) The CBI court sentenced a railway booking clerk Rajesh Bhutani today to three years-RI and imposed a Rs 1.30 lakh fine for causing the railways a loss of Rs 4.18 lakh during 1993-94.

Special judge Rajesh Kaushik however reduced the sentence to three years from statutory 10 years on compassionate grounds. Bhutani had pleaded mercy, citing failed kidneys.

According to the CBI, the convict's modus operandi was to manipulate the money refunded against cancellation of tickets. The case was registered on January 10,1995.
