Ex-cop killed in mishap

Kancheepuram, Mar 19 (UNI) A retired police officer was killed when he was hit by a speeding vehicle near Karunguzhi Village of the district this evening.

Police said Vedachalam (64), a retired Superintendent of Police, was proceeding to Madurantakam from Karunguzhi on a bicycle when an unidentified vehicle hit him.

In the process, he was thrown off the bicycle and died on the spot. The body was sent to the government hospital at Madurantakam for post-mortem.
