EC effects major administrative reshuffle

Lucknow, Mar 19 (UNI) The Election Commission today effected major reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh, replacing nine senior officials in the state going to the polls from April 7 to May 8.

After changing the State Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, this will be the major transfer of official before the seven- phase assembly elections.

According to an official release, Mr Prabhas Kumar Jha, secretary fisheries, would be the new commissioner of Jhansi division replacing Mr Kumar Kamlesh, while Trade Tax department additional commissioner Ashish Goel will be the district magistrate of Allahabad in place of Mr Hari Om. Both the shifted officials have been kept on waiting.

Mr K L Meena will be the new Inspector General of Police (Gorakhpur zone) while Mr Daya Shanker Singh will be the IG (Lucknow zone).

The EC has posted Mr R R Verma as the new DIG of Allahabad range while Mr Chandra Prakash will be DIG Moradabad range.

Mr Jyoti Narain will be the new SSP of Lucknow while outgoing SSP of Lucknow Rajiv Krishan will be posted in the same capaicity at Bareily.

Ms Sachi Ghidiyal will be the new SP of Maharajganj district.

Sources said all the police officials who have been shunted were attached to the DG office in the state capital.
