Cong ridicules CPI (M) leader's statement on land acquisition
Hyderabad, Mar 19 (UNI) The Congress today ridiculed the statement of Andhra Pradesh CPI(M) unit Secretary B V Raghavulu that the party would continue its agitation against land acquisiton for taking up projects in the state.
In a statement here, Government Chief Whip N Kirankumar Reddy and whips Udayabhanu and Sridhar Babu said the the CPI (M) leader had made the statement only to "appease" Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu as the party wanted to get closer to the TDP.
They said as the West Bengal Government had failed to acquire lands for projects, the CPM leader was making statements about continuing its agitation against land acquisition in the state.
They said the state government had announced special packages to the displaced persons who lost their land for the Outer Ring Road project on the city outskirts.
They said the displaced persons had accepted the special package announced by the state government.
The West Bengal government had not announced any packages for the displaced persons and tried to take the land by force from the farmers, they added.
