Cong playing "politics of vendetta": Mulayam

Ferozabad, Mar 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today alleged that the Congress played ''politics of vendatta'' against him and his family.

''We were instrumental in the formation of Congress-led government at the Centre and now I am being implicated falsely,'' Mr Yadav alleged.

He claimed that conspiracies were being hatched against him while SP leader Amar Singh was being insulted.

''The Congress is working on the lines of 'Mulayam Singh Yadav hatao, pariwar ko phasao' (remove Mulayam Singh Yadav, implicate his family),'' he alleged.

The CM castigated CBI saying he had little faith in the Central agency. ''It is a personal organisation of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil,'' he charged.

''These people do not want to see me alive,'' he alleged.

Mr Yadav referred to the CBI probes into Bofors and Taj Heritage Corridor (THC) cases to back up his allegations.

He said the Congress, BJP, BSP and other smaller parties had united against the SP.

''While, the Congress is getting weaker in the country, the BJP is gaining ground. If the SP also becomes weak, the BJP will capture power in UP,'' he said.

Listing the achievements of his government, the SP Chief claimed the state exchequer had ample funds due to the pro-active and other developmental policies of his regime.

''If we return to power, more people-oriented schemes would be launched,'' Mr Yadav promised.
