Bomb hoax creates mild panic in Kurukshetra
Kurukshetra, Mar 19 (UNI) The rumour that a scooter parked near the office of the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) office contained a bomb, created mild panic in the Fair area teeming with pilgrims on the occasion of Solar Eclipse and Navratra.
On hearing the rumour, the DC and SP present at the KDB office, alerted the security personnel and a bomb disposal squad was pressed into action but no explosive was found in the scooter body.
When the police tried to cordon off the area, some miscreants smashed the vehicles, damaging the windscreens of two vans of news channels which were beaming live telecast of the solar eclipse mela.
However, the mela went off peacefully without any untoward incident. Lakhs of pilgrims reached the holy city and took a dip in the waters of the Brahamsarovar, Sannihit Sarovar and Jyotisar Teerath in Kurukshetra besides the Saraswati Teeratha in Pehowa, about 27 kms from here, as it was Somawati Amavas, the first Navratra on Monday besides solar.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his wife Asha Hooda paid obeisance at the VIP ghat and performed 'Pooja' was also accompanied by the speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly Mr RS Kadian, HPCC working president Dr Ram Prakash and other colleagues and officials.
