Army-triggered explosion causes panic

Indore, Mar 19 (UNI) Panic prevailed in the military headquarters of War (MHOW) area near here, when a powerful explosion was triggered by the army yesterday afternoon without prior warning, the police said today.

Four people received minor injuries during the incident.

A school principal, Ms Namrata Singh, who was hit by a stone that came flying from the explosion, lodged a police complaint regarding the behaviour of the Army.

The explosion was carried out to remove a bridge, built over a nullah, to remove encroachment.

Police said local residents had constructed a bridge over the nullah for convenience but the army had objections over its construction.

Ms Singh said less dangerous methods could have been adopted to remove the bridge.

People were angry over the explosion being carried out without giving prior information.
