Mysore, Mar 18 (UNI) The Federation of the Karnataka State Private Schools Management Boards today urged the State Government to bring a single education policy up to high school level.

In a joint press conference here, three MLCs, Puttanna, K T Srikante Gowda and Marithibbe Gowda said the Government should withdraw its notification on the derecognition of more than 2,200 schools in the State for violating the State's language policy by teaching in English after getting recognition for running a Kannada medium school. Until the Karnataka High Court came out with a ruling on the issue, the recognition of these schools should be continued.

The State Government should also consider these schools as English medium ones and make Kannada compulsory from first standard, they appealed, adding that the Government should make teaching of Kannada mandatory in Central schools also.

The Federation, welcoming the State Government's decision to set up a Cabinet Sub-Committee to look into the derecognition issue, urged the Sub-Committee to submit its report to the Government soon to settle the issue and help the students.

The three Council members agreed that the school managements have committed mistakes, but said the Government should have taken necessary steps to check this trend.
