Panthers Party demands ''desirable action'' against PDP

Jammu, Mar 18 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today pressed the Congress to take ''desirable action'' against ''defiant People's Democratic Party (PDP) for deliberately exploiting innocent Kashmiris''.

In a statement issued here, JKNPP Chairman Bhim Singh warned that the party would review its alliance with the coalition government in case the Congress leadership fails to take ''desirable action against defiant PDP which has been exploiting the innocent Kashmiris and trying to brow beat the Centre leadership in the name of so called demilitarisation.'' ''Panthers Party shall not digest any more the political gimmickry of the PDP, the only beneficiary partner in the coalition government,'' he said.

The PDP, Prof Singh said, has betrayed the people of Jammu and Kashmir by switching over from principally agreed Common Minimum Programme to ''dixon plan''.

''This is to create disruption chaos and communal distrust in the state by preaching secession and denouncing the Indian Army under slogan of 'demilitarisation' at the behest of ISI,'' he added.

There is no ''militarisation'' in Jammu and Kashmir as the state is an integral part of the Union of India and therefore no question of demilitarisation arises, Prof Singh said.

On the continuous boycott of Cabinet meeting by PDP ministers, Prof Singh said, ''PDP has boycotted the Cabinet meeting convened by the Chief Minister three times, consecutively, and there is no reason or justification to allow a coalition partner to blackmail the tenets of democracy.'' The JKNPP Chief, however, sought an immediate intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to end the issue.
