Mahavir Seva Sadan distributes free artificial limbs
Kolkata, Mar 18 (UNI) Mahavir Seva Sadan, a voluntary organisation in East India that manufactures prosthetics, here today distributed artificial limbs free of cost to several physically challenged people.
The organisation manufactures artificial limbs based on the Jaipur technology, a release stated.
The Sadan has a state-of-the-art machine to make artificial limbs, artificial hand manufacturing assembly unit, machines for gait practice, an air-conditioned physiotherapy unit, yoga, meditation and health care services, it said.
These services are provided free of cost to the weaker sections of the society under the supervision of experienced Orthopaedic doctors, prosthetic engineers, physiotherapists and several dedicated volunteers.
Besides, the organisation's mobile workshops visit the remote places in suburbs and villages to distribute such limbs as per requirement.
Parliamentary Committee of Small Scale Industries Chairman Santosh Bagrodia and MP Prakash Chand Parakh, ex-secretary, Ministry of Coal, were present on the occasion.
