Launch of wheat and pulses scheme may be delayed
Chandigarh, Mar 18 (UNI) Punjab government's scheme to provide wheat and pulses at subsidised rates to the poor sections of society is likely to be delayed.
The government had planned the launch on Baisakhi (April 13), but identification of eligible beneficiaries may delay the scheme.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has convened a meeting of all Deputy Commissioners here tomorrow to ascertain modalities for a fresh survey to identify the eligible beneficiaries, an official spokesman today stated.
However the government remains committed to supply wheat and pulses at Rs four per kg and Rs 20 per kg respectively to the poorer sections of society, the spokesman added.
