Chennai, Mar 18 (UNI) Accusing the Centre and the DMK government of delaying the implementation of the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today said both the governments would be thrown out of power if they continued to ''betray'' the people of Tamil Nadu.

Talking to reporters at the venue of her day-long fast, demanding immediate gazette notification of the final award, she said both the Centre and the DMK government did not want to implement the Tribunal's award.

While the Congress, heading the UPA government at the Centre, was afraid of losing the party's vote bank in Karnataka, Mr Karunanidhi was apprehensive of losing income from his family-run satellite channels in that state, she charged.

Demanding that the final award be gazetted without any further delay, Ms Jayalalithaa said both the governments would be thrown out of power if they continued to betray the people of Tamil Nadu on the issue.

The AIADMK would soon form a government in Tamil Nadu, she claimed, adding that even at the Centre, a new Government would be formed with her party's support.

''If the final award is not gazetted now, we will do that job after coming to power in the state and at the Centre,'' she said.
