Four robbers arrested; jewels recovered
Hubli, Mar 17 (UNI) A four-member gang of robbers have landed in police net and stolen gold and cash, totally worth Rs 12.40 lakh, have been recovered from them.
Police said today that the foursome had robbed one Parshuram Olekar, who had with him five kg of gold meant for supply to some parties in Dharwad, Uttar Kannada and Haveri districts. He was abducted in a car by the foursome from a hotel near Hubli bus stand, taken to the outskirts and looted in May 2005.
The accused were earlier arrested by Khapoli police of Maharashtra, where they confessed to the crime and were transferred to Hubli police through court.
After interrogating the accused, Hubli police recovered gold ornaments, cash and a car from them.
