Employees demand interim relief
Patna, Mar 18 (UNI) Non-gazetted Employees Association of Bihar and Jharkhand today welcomed the decision of the Union government to sanction six per cent dearness allowance to its employees and also demanded to provide interim relief for them till the recommendations of the sixth pay commission were implemented.
General secretary of the Association Gopal Prasad Tripathy told reporters here that in-ordinate delay in announcement of interim relief by the Centre was unfortunate. Earlier, the government used to give interim relief to its employees within three months of the constitution of the new commission, he recalled.
He urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to announce Rs 1000 as interim relief to employess without further loss of time as sky rocketing price of essential commodities had made their lives unbearable.
''If the Centre failed to announce interim relief soon, central and state government employees would launch joint agitation to press the government for acceptance of their demand'' he warned.Leaders of the employees association of the Centre and states would chalkout the details of the agitation in a meeting to be held in New Delhi in last week of this month.
