AP CM launches ''LIC's calipers'' distribution programme

Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today launched a project of providing calipers to the polio-affected children at his camp office, organised by the LIC of India South Central Zonal Office.

On this occasion, LIC of India head donated Rs 60 lakh for providing calipers for the people affected by Polio under the jurisdiction of South Central Zonal Office.

The LIC, South Central Zone Manager T Chattopadhyay today handed over a letter of commitment to this effect to Dr Reddy at a simple function held at his camp office.

About 20 polio-affected children of different age groups, who were the first beneficiaries of this project were also present.

The programme would be extended to all the polio-affected children in the State in a phased manner and the Defence Research and Development OrganiSation (DRDO) was also actively supporting this project.

Dr Reddy had appreciated the concern and efforts of the LIC of India South Central Zonal Office and the DRDO towards the physically challenged and their social service activities, an official release said here.
