Prohibitory orders imposed at Begu in Chittorgarh
Jaipur, Mar 17 (UNI) Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Begu township in Chittorgarh district following communal tension in the area during the traditional 'Gair' procession today.
According to police' people belonging to the minority community resorted to stone pelting on a traditional 'Gair' procession taken out on the occassion of 'Rang Teras,' to protest the throwing of 'Gulal' on a masjid during the procession.
In response to the provocation' the majority community members resorted to arson. There were reports that two shops and about half a dozen kiosks were gutted in the arson.
District superintendent of police Rajendra Singh Chaudhary said the minority community members stoned a gair procession to protest the throwing of colours on a masjid leading to stone pelting and arson by the majority community.
He said due to the situation' the district administraion imposed prohibitory orders in the area. He said some people have been injured in stone pelting and added that the administration has called an all party meeting to restore order and communal harmony in the area.
