Nandigram rumblings threaten Left Front Govt.

Kolkata, Mar 16 (UNI) In a development unprecedented in 30 years of ruling Left Front government, three key partners tonight decided to pullout of the West Bengal ministry if the CPI(M) failed to fulfil their five point charter of demands.

In a conclave late this evening Front parters - Forward Bloc, RSP and CPI- finalised a strategy to put pressure on their "Big Brother", the CPI(M), to maintain the "coalition dharma", a day ahead of the crucial Left Front meeting on the Nandigram issue.

Veteran Forward Bloc leader Ashok Ghosh told reporters that the three parties were unanimous to demand that the government fix responsibilty for the Nandigram carnage, immediate withdraw police from the area and declare that no land would acquired for the proposed SEZ for a chemical hub.

" We will also demand that any decision to be taken in the Front has to be inconsultation with all the Front partners" Mr Ghosh said.

Tomorrow an extended session of the Left Front meeting would be held in the CPI(M) state headquarters on the Nandigram issue after yesterday's meeting that ended inconclusive with the smaller partners virtually holding a banner of revolt against the CPI(M).

Earlier, holding Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee responsible for Nandigram mayhem, Mr Ghosh one of the founders of the Left Front said the government in West Bengal was being run only by the CPI(M) and not by coalition partners.

Alleging that the Left Front government had turned into a "CPI(M) government'', the Forward Bloc said the RSP and CPI would also come out of the Ministry if they were not given respect.

"There is no Left Front government in West Bengal. It is turning into a CPI(M) government," Mr Ghosh pointed out.

It was the demand of the smaller partners that police be removed from Nandigram, the Chief Minister declare that no chemical hub would be set up in the area and that the smaller partners were consulted before all important decisions, the veteran leader said.
