Health conference opened in AP

Visakhapatnam, Mar 17 (UNI) Care Hospital Managing Director B Soma Raju today inaugurated a conference on healthcare scenario in India.

Speaking after inaugurating the conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry-Andhra Pradesh here, Dr Raju emphasised on the urgent need to project India as a low cost high value service destination.

He expressed concern on the establishment of most of the hospitals on the outskirts whereas the need was to locate them centrally.

Better facilities and development of the city airport widen opportunities in the healthcare sector, he said.

With investments in the private health sector increasing over the years, issues concerning government investment in secondary and tertiary health sectors and bridging the rural-urban health divide were discussed in the conference, CII-AP Chairman H S Chhatwala and CII-Region Director Saugat Mukherjee said.

Detailed deliberation on the challenges in the healthcare industry, building values and health tourism were discussed among other things.
