Engineer arrested for accepting bribe
Patna, Mar 17 (UNI) The State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) sleuths today arrested building construction department's executive engineer Akhilesh Sharma for accepting a bribe of Rs 18,500 from a contractor.
SVB's Additional Director General (ADG) Neelmani said a raid was conducted following a complaint from the contractor.
The contractor in his complaint had mentioned that Mr Sharma had demand the cash for clearance of pending bills.
A clerk, who was present during the transaction, was also arrested, he added.
Mr Neelmani said Rs 10 lakhs and several passbooks were recovered during the raid from the residence of Mr Sharma, who is presently posted in Darbhanga.
Both the arrested personnel would be produced before the special vigilance court tomorrow, the ADG added.
