dempos swamp HASC 3-1 for sixth win

Bangalore, Mar 17 (UNI) Dempo Sports Club trashed Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club, Bangalore, 3-1 to ascertain its supremacy in the ONGC Cup 11th National Football League here today.

The win was a befitting homage to its ace striker Cristiano Junior who died of a massive heart attack during the 2004 Federation cup in the final against Mohan Bagan which was won by Dempos. Dempo is playing in the city for the first time after the tragedy struck the team three years ago.

Dempo led 2-1 at half time. The scorers were: Nigerian striker Ranti Martins (12th Minute), Miranda (18th) and Roberto Silva (46th). For HASC the margin was reduced by Murali (42nd).

As anticipated the league toppers held sway throughout the match and bolstered thair points tally to 20 points with an hapless local league champions managing to scramble a goal late in the first half.

Dempo has in all six wins,two draws and a defeat in the league this far.

HAL remained at the bottom with Six points.
