Cong team visits Chhattisgarh massacre site

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 17 (UNI) Following Congress President Sonia Gandhi's directive, a party team today visited Dantewada district's Ranibodli village and took stock of the situation in the wake of the naxal attack on a police camp, claiming 55 personnel's lives.

''State Congress President Charan Das Mahant, General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, MPs Mebel Rebeiro and K C Dev will submit a report to Ms Gandhi within two-three days,'' said Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Mahendra Karma who is the brain behind the anti-rebel Salwa Judum campaign.

The team, which arrived by helicopter, met the affected people and left by evening.

The 55 personnel, including 39 tribal youth working as special police officers were killed when the Maoists raided the camp in the pre-dawn hours on Thursday.
