CEO orders cancellation of votes cast openly

Hyderabad, March 17 (UNI) Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhaskar today ordered cancellation of votes cast openly for the 42 seats to the Legislative Council.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Bhaskar said he had received complaints from some quarters that votes were being openly cast. He had issued orders to the District Collectors to invalidate the votes that were not cast secretly, he added.

The local bodies, graduates and teachers were electing their representatives in the first phase today.

The CEO said he was holding tele-conference from his office with District Collectors and Returning Officers.

He said though polling was dull in the morning, it had gradually picked up.
