Senior journalist Sharad Dwivedi passes away

New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) Senior Journalist Sharad Dwivedi passed away here last night after prolonged illness.

Dwivedi, 67, is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

His last rites were performed at the Lodhi Road crematorium today in the presence of a large number of journalists, admirers and friends.

Dwivedi played a pioneering role in starting the Hindi news services Varta of UNI and Bhasha of PTI.

He was one of those few journalists who have worked for all the four Hindi news agencies -- UNIVarta, Bhasha, Samachar Bharti and Hindustan Samachar. He was also a member of the Press Council of Delhi and Press Association.

After leaving the post of Bhasha's Editor, Dwivedi served as the Consulting Editor of 'Dainik Bhaskar'.

The Press Council of Delhi and the Press Association have expressed profound grief on the death of Dwivedi.

UNI
