No relaxation in rules of liquor prohibition policy

Gandhinagar, Mar 16: Putting a full-stop to the controversy over relaxation in rules of liquor prohibition policy in Gujarat, State Home Minister Amit Shah today assured the Gujarat Legislative Assembly that the state police would continue to implement the liquor prohibition with more stringency.

Mr Shah further stated that for firm and clear implementation of liquor prohibition rules in Gujarat, the State Government has spent over Rs 48-crore in last two years.

Of this, Rs 83-lakh were spent on advertisements teaching people about the benefits of strict implementation of the liquor prohibition in the state, to society and every individual.

Mr Shah announced this while replying to a written question raised by opposition Congress MLA Pravin Maru during the Question Hour.

The Minister further clarified that even the 33 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will have implementation of the policy according to the rules made for them.
