NDA to visit Nandigram tomorrow

New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) An NDA delegation led by the Leader of the Opposition L K Advani will leave tonight for Nandigram in West Bengal where at least 14 people were killed in police firing on Wednesday.

Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj told newspersons that the delegation comprising representatives from all NDA constituents would visit Nandigram tomorrow to assess the situation and also go to the two hospitals where the injured were undergoing treatment. The delegation includes NDA convener George Fernandes (JD-S), Mr Anant Geethe (Shiv Sena, Mrs Sushma Swaraj (BJP), Mr B J Panda (BJD), Dr R S Ajnala (SAD), Mr Dinesh Trivedi (Trinamool Congress), and Mr Sharad Joshi (Swantara Bharat Paksha).

Mrs Swaraj said the decision to send an NDA delegation was taken this morning at a meeting which condemned the Government for not responding to their demand to send a Joint Parliamentary Delegation to Nandigram.

She said the NDA had even forwarded to the Government that if there was any problem to send a Joint Parliamentary Delegation it should agree to send an all party delegation there. The Government, she said, was conveyed that the Opposition would not allow proceedings in the House unless their demand was acceeded to. The Government's response was still awaited.
