Misuse of SEZ customs duty concessions detected

New Delhi, Mar 16: There were case of misuse of customs duty concessions provided to Special Economic Zones (SEZs), the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam in a written reply said the highest misuse of customs duty concession was detected during 2003-04 which was to the tune of Rs 117.17 crores.

This however gradually declined to Rs 0.28 crores during 2006-07 upto February, 2007.
