Five killed in two separate accidents in Beed

Beed, Maharashtra, Mar 16 (UNI) At least five persons were killed on the spot and five others injured in two separate accidents here today, police sources said.

According to police, in the first incident three persons were killed on the spot and five others injured seriously when an autorickshaw they were travelling in, collided head-on with a speedy jeep coming from the opposite direction on the Beed-Parali state highway, about 25 km away from here.

The mishap occurred around 1930 hrs. The injured have been admitted to the district civil hospital, sources said.

The victims have been identified as Aasaram Bapurao Gade (45), Narayan Aasaram Gade (22) and Bhagwan Uddhav Gade (52).

In another incident that occurred around 1900 hrs, two persons - Vivekanand Khechre (40) and Lahu Rambhau Khule (35) - were killed on the spot when a motorcycle on which they were riding, collided with a container on the Beed-Aurangabad road, about four km away from here, police said.

The container was on its way to Dhule from Solapur while the victims were travelling to Beed from Georai, when the mishap occurred, sources said.

The rural police have arrested the container driver and an offence has been registered. they added.
