Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill passed

New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today passed the Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill, 2007, allowing the government to withdraw Rs 394155.54 crore from the Consolidated Fund of India as moneys required to meet expenditure for part of the financial year 2007-08.

The amount will also go towards meeting the grants made in advance by the Lok Sabha in respect of the estimated expenditure of the government.

The House also passed the Appropriation Bill, 2007, allowing the government to appropriate Rs 386336.76 crore out of the Consolidated Fund for the financial year 2006-07.

The Bills were introduced by Finance Minister P Chidambaram during the course of his Budget reply, amid a furore created by the Opposition over the Nandigram violence.
