MP Assy Speaker defends actions

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today said he was occupying his chair with the objective of ensuring solutions in the form of answers to members' questions and would take necessary action in that direction.

Responding to a senior member's comment during Question Hour, he said, ''if a member says that I speak too much then I will speak repeatedly.'' ''I feel you argue a little more than needed,'' Mr Ramlakhan Sharma (CPI-M) had said. Comments by Mr Satyadev Katare (Cong) were expunged.

Earlier, Mr Lakhan Singh Baghel (BSP) raised a demand for declaring Shivpuri district's Karaira tahsil as drought-affected.

''That cannot be done as the tahsil's crop production is healthy as per standards,'' said Revenue Minister Kamal Patel. Dissatisfied with the reply, BSP, SP and CPI-M members staged a walkout.
