Manipur Assembly session to begin on Mar 16

Imphal, Mar 15: The first session of the Ninth Manipur Assembly will begin tomorrow.

The Speaker would also be elected tomorrow followed by the customary speech by Governor S S Sidhu.

The ruling Secular Progressive Front led by chief minister O IbobiSingh had 29 Congress MLAs, 4 CPI MLAs, 3 RJD MLAs and 3 NPP MLAs.

Independent candidates Sapam Kunjeshore and Haokholet Kipgen havealready announced their decision to support the ruling government.

Mr Singh had won from two constituencies and had relinquished Khangabok constituency earlier.

The vote of accounts would be presented along with two financialbills and the members of the three financial committees would also beelected, Assembly officials said.
