Cong committed to welfare of all sections: Moily

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader and Chairman Administrative Reforms Commission M Veerappa Moily today said the people had reposed faith in the party as it was committed to the welfare of all sections of the society.

Mr Moily, who visited 'Gandhi Bhavan', the party headquarters in Andhra Pradesh, told newspersons that the party had a national character.

He said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre had taken up several welfare programmes like the National Rural Employment Guarentee Programme to improve the economic conditions of the rural mass.

About the Nandigram police firing in which 14 people were killed he said, ''I am not against development, but agricultural land should not be acquired in the name of development.'' The Commission had submitted reports to the Centre on 'Right to Information', NRGEP, Crisis Management and Ethics in Governance, he added.
